Running back Jaleel McLaughlin and the Denver Broncos may have fallen short of their ultimate goal of reaching the playoffs this season, but the young running back remains optimistic about the team’s future.
McLaughlin, who signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2021, emerged as a valuable contributor to the team’s offense this season. He rushed for 542 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. McLaughlin also caught 22 passes for 170 yards.
While the Broncos struggled collectively, McLaughlin believes the team made significant strides throughout the season.
“We faced a lot of challenges this year, but we never gave up,” McLaughlin said. “We learned a lot about ourselves and each other, and I think we’re going to be a better team for it next year.”
McLaughlin has shown versatility as both a runner and a receiver. He credits his success to the team’s offensive line and his fellow running backs.
“Our offensive line is one of the best in the league,” McLaughlin said. “They create a lot of space for me to run, and they’re always there to pick me up when I need it.”
“I also have great running backs in the room with me. We push each other every day to be better, and I think that’s made a big difference in my development.”
With the offseason now underway, McLaughlin and the Broncos are already looking ahead to next season.
“We’re going to keep working as a unit,” McLaughlin said. “We know we have a lot of potential, and we’re going to keep grinding until we reach our goals.”
McLaughlin believes that the Broncos have the potential to be a playoff contender next season.
“I think we have the talent and the coaching staff to make a deep run,” McLaughlin said. “We just need to keep working hard and believe in each other.”
