Lions Escape Bears’ Comeback Bid After Chicago Completely Botches Final Snap
Chicago, Ill. – The Detroit Lions escaped with a narrow 20-19 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday after the Bears bungled a snap on the final play of the game.
Lions Hold On After Late Bears Rally
The Lions appeared to be cruising to an easy win, leading 20-10 with less than two minutes remaining. However, the Bears staged a furious rally, scoring a touchdown and recovering an onside kick.
With just 10 seconds left on the clock, the Bears faced a 4th-and-15 from the Lions’ 32-yard line. Quarterback Justin Fields took the snap and hurriedly threw the ball into the end zone, but it was incomplete.
Bears Botch Final Snap
The play was initially ruled a fumble, but it was later overturned and ruled an incomplete pass after replay review.
“It was a tough break,” said Bears coach Matt Eberflus. “We had a chance to win the game, but we just didn’t execute.”

The victory improves the Lions’ record to 2-0, while the Bears fall to 1-1.
