Lions’ David Montgomery, Amon-Ra St. Brown Questionable to Play vs. Bears
ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown are both questionable to play in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.
Montgomery’s Status
Montgomery suffered a knee injury in the Bears’ Week 8 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He has missed the past two games and has been limited in practice this week. Coach Matt Eberflus said Friday that Montgomery is “day-to-day” and that the team will make a decision on his status closer to game time.
“David is a tough guy,” Eberflus said. “He’s a warrior. He wants to be out there. We’ll see how he does today and tomorrow, and we’ll make a decision from there.”
St. Brown’s Status
St. Brown suffered an ankle injury in the Lions’ Week 9 win over the Green Bay Packers. He missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday but returned on a limited basis Friday. Coach Dan Campbell said Friday that St. Brown is “trending in the right direction” but that the team will make a decision on his status closer to game time.
“ARSB is a big part of our offense,” Campbell said. “We need him out there. But we’re not going to rush him back. We’ll see how he does today and tomorrow, and we’ll make a decision from there.”
Outlook
If Montgomery and St. Brown are unable to play, it would be a significant blow to their respective offenses. Montgomery is the Bears’ leading rusher, with 463 yards and three touchdowns this season. St. Brown is the Lions’ leading receiver, with 71 catches for 876 yards and six touchdowns.
The Bears and Lions are both 3-6 this season and in need of a win. The Bears are coming off a bye week, while the Lions are coming off a short week after playing on Thanksgiving.
