Santos was one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL last season, connecting on 30 of his 32 field goal attempts (93.8%) and all 33 of his extra point attempts. He also made a 55-yard field goal in the Bears’ Week 17 win over the Green Bay Packers.
“Cairo is a valuable member of our team,” said Bears general manager Ryan Pace. “He’s a consistent kicker who we can rely on to make big kicks in critical moments.”
Santos, 30, has been with the Bears since 2020. Prior to joining Chicago, he spent time with the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs. He has made 87.3% of his field goal attempts in his career.
The Bears hope that Santos can continue his strong play and be a key part of their success in the years to come. The team is looking to rebound from a disappointing 6-11 season in 2022.
