Nebraska Football Puts Purdue Away With Defense, Special Teams: Instant
Lincoln, Nebraska – The Nebraska Cornhuskers added a much-needed win to their record on Saturday, defeating the Purdue Boilermakers 43-37 in a game that was decided by the Huskers’ defense and special teams.
Defense Dominates
The Huskers’ defense was dominant throughout the game, forcing five Purdue turnovers, including three interceptions and two fumbles. Linebacker JoJo Domann led the way with two interceptions, while cornerbacks Cam Taylor-Britt and Myles Farmer each had one.
“Our defense played their hearts out,” said Nebraska head coach Scott Frost. “They created turnovers, got us the ball back, and made it easy for our offense to score points.”
Special Teams Shine
Nebraska’s special teams also played a key role in the victory. The Huskers blocked two Purdue punts, leading to two touchdowns. They also returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the third quarter.
“Our special teams have been working hard all season, and it showed today,” said Frost. “They made big plays that changed the momentum of the game.”
Moving Forward
The win moves Nebraska to 3-3 on the season and gives them a much-needed boost heading into next week’s matchup against Minnesota.
“We’re not where we want to be, but we’re moving in the right direction,” said Frost. “We’re going to keep working hard and try to finish the season strong.”
