LAS VEGAS, NV – In a game that was never really close, the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels were defeated by the Mississippi State Bulldogs 82-58 in the Arizona Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night. The Rebels were led by Bryce Hamilton’s 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Bulldogs’ balanced scoring attack.

First Half Dominance

Mississippi State jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Bulldogs hit six three-pointers in the first half and shot 50% from the field. UNLV, on the other hand, struggled to find their rhythm offensively and shot just 33% from the field.

Second Half Struggles

The Rebels came out of the locker room with more energy in the second half, but they were unable to cut into the Bulldogs’ lead. Mississippi State continued to hit shots from the outside, and they also got some key baskets from their inside players.

Quote From The Game

“We just didn’t play well tonight,” said UNLV coach Kevin Kruger. “We didn’t shoot the ball well, and we didn’t play good defense. We’ve got to learn from this and get better.”

Looking Ahead

The Rebels will have a chance to rebound on Thursday when they face the Pepperdine Waves. Mississippi State will face the winner of the Arizona-Grand Canyon game on Friday.
