Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy on a one-year contract. Bieniemy, widely regarded as one of the league’s top play callers, spent the past decade with the Chiefs, helping them win Super Bowl LIV in February 2020.
“We’re thrilled to have Eric back in the mix,” said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. “His offensive knowledge and ability to connect with players are second to none. He’s a great asset to our team.”
Bieniemy left the Chiefs in January 2023 after serving as their offensive coordinator for four seasons. He interviewed for several head coaching vacancies during the offseason but ultimately returned to Kansas City.
“I’m excited to be back in Kansas City,” said Bieniemy. “This is where I belong. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working with Coach Reid and help this team win another Super Bowl.”
Bieniemy’s return to the Chiefs comes at a crucial time. The team is looking to rebound from a disappointing 9-8 season and make another playoff run. With star quarterback Patrick Mahomes leading the offense, Bieniemy will have the opportunity to showcase his offensive acumen once again.
While some analysts question whether Bieniemy’s one-year contract could indicate uncertainty about his future with the team, both he and Reid expressed confidence in their working relationship. Bieniemy’s focus for now is on helping the Chiefs achieve success on the field.
